Screaming
Blue Murder

photograph series, cyanotypes

I couldn’t find a definite meaning of the phrase, “screaming blue murder.” Something you can’t get away with, but maybe you did get away with? Something disastrous, but not murder itself?

This photo series tells a story of blue murder.

A story that doesn’t exist. Heavily inspired by Larry Sultan and Mike Mandel’s Evidence, the images are sourced from an archive of Halloween photos (mostly Library of Congress, some Flikr). I really loved the idea of cropping images and placing them out of context, adding a non-existent story. Or just how much context is removed when images are cropped.
